Khusein Mezhidov's award provokes criticism of Chechen Ombudsman
Chechen Ombudsman Nurdi Nukhazhiev has awarded several law enforcers for their "contribution to protection of the citizens' rights." The most honourable award went to Khusein Mezhidov, a fellow villager of Ramzan Kadyrov, who threatened to kill blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov. Awarding of Khusein Mezhidov clearly demonstrates the level of official human rights activities in Chechnya, residents of the republic believe.
Residents of Chechnya, interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, found inappropriate to award law enforcers for protecting human rights.
"The commander who threatened to tear out Tumso's tongue got an order and an award of the Chechen Ombudsman," noted local activist Idris.
Awards of Khusein Mezhidov are not related to the protection of human rights, said Svetlana Gannushkina, the head of the "Civic Assistance Committee".
