Fired law enforcers tell about persecutions after Magas rally

There was no order to disperse the rally in Magas downloaded from the leadership, while the criminal case on abuse of powers was initiated because of an attempt to defend our rights in court, the dismissed policemen have explained.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that thirteen Ingush policemen, who were fired after a rally in Magas for refusing to use force against activists, were accused of non-fulfilling the order. They went to court trying to achieve reinstatement at work, but the court refused to do it.

On March 26, residents of Ingushetia demanding resignation of Yunus-Bek Evkurov extended, without authorities' permit, their protest rally in a square of the city of Magas. In the morning on March 27, this led to clashes with law enforcers. On March 29, Kaloi Akhilgov, a lawyer and former press secretary of the head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Evkurov, said that the battalion of patrol-and-post service (PPS), which, according to his data, refused to disperse protesters in Magas on March 26, had been disbanded.

One of fired employees claims that on March 27, he and his colleagues received no orders. "We tried to prove it (in court), but the prosecution took the side of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA); nobody wanted to listen to us ... Our commander said that he had allegedly given us an order. We were on standby and didn't receive any orders to disperse the crowd; it's a lie that we disobeyed the order," the dismissed law enforcer has explained.

He regards the criminal case as revenge for their attempt to stand for their rights. "Probably, if we didn't go to court for compensation, they wouldn't have taken revenge," the man has suggested.
