Talish residents voice conditions for returning to their village (+video)

In Nagorno-Karabakh, 52 residential buildings were built and repaired for residents of the Talish village, evacuated during the April war of 2016, and social facilities were erected, officials report.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by Vilen Petrosyan, the head of the Talish community, that the process of returning Talish people has already begun. At present, four families already live in the Talish village, as well as more than 20 heads of families who intend to move their relatives there, Vilen Petrosyan reports. According to him, the main problems faced by residents of the Talish village are problems with water supply and road, but those issues are being solved at the moment.

Members of the Musaelyan family with many children have been living in the Talish village for a week already. Nanar Musaelyan, the head of the family, has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that her family with four minor children has been provided with a house, necessary furniture, and household appliances.

"I think people do not come here because they are afraid of a repeat of the war ... Everyone likes and miss the village. They are only stopped from returning by the fear that there will be a war again. However, during the week we spent here I have not heard a single shot," Nanar Musaelyan said.

Ashot Sargsyan has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he is a native of the Talish village. In 2017, he moved to Talish alone, while his family members remained in Armenia, the man explained.

Ashot Sargsyan hopes that his wife and children will agree to move to the Talish village for living. "It all depends on whether people will come to Talish, and there will be clear guarantees for a safe stay here," the man said. According to Ashot Sargsyan, "many people are afraid of a repeat of the April war, so they do not want to bring their children there."
