Magomed Gadjiev treats his criminal prosecution as law enforcers' revenge

Magomed Gadjiev, a member of the Public Chamber and the Public Oversight Commission (POC) of Dagestan, told the court that law enforcers had forced him to slander the head of the republic's branch of the Federal Service of Court Marshals.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Magomed Gadjiev was detained on August 18 within a fraud case, when he appeared for interrogation.

During the today's court session, Gadjiev has stated that he had been exposed to pressure. "[A law enforcer] wanted to make a deal with me: at first, in a mild form, then, rudely, he demanded from me to slander Nizami Galimov, a former head of the Dagestani branch of the Federal Service of Court Marshals. I refused stating that I had never had anything to do with Galimov, and that I was not going to slander anyone. [The law enforcer] told me that if I slandered Galimov, then, everything would be fine with me, like with Angela Ilyasova; but if I refused to give false evidence against Galimov, I'd have problems," Magomed Gadjiev stated at the trial.

According to Gadjiev, his criminal prosecution and detention are revenge for refusing to slander Galimov.

During the trial, 48 hours have elapsed since Gadjiev's detention; and his advocate demanded from the court to release him. However, the judge ruled to arrest Gadjiev for 29 days, the "Chernovik" (Draft) reports.
