Widow of co-founder of "Rustavi-2" demands to stop sale of TV Company
Iya Kitsmarishvili, the widow of one of the founders of the "Rustavi-2" TV Company, has called on the court to promptly consider and satisfy her lawsuit and return the stake in company to her. Meanwhile, Paata Saliya, the advocate of Kibar Khalvashi, asserts that his client is the legal owner of the TV Company and has the right to sell its shares.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 12, Ms Kitsmarishvili turned to the court with a demand to return to her the shares of the TV Company that belonged to Erosi Kitsmarishvili. On the same day, Kibar Khalvashi, the owner "Rustavi-2" TV Company, announced the sale thereof because of debts.
On July 18, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) declared the decision of the Supreme Court (SC) of Georgia, adopted in 2015, to transfer the assets of the "Rustavi-2" TV Company channel to the former owner Kibar Khalvashi as legitimate.
Iya Kitsmarishvili, the widow of Erosi, a co-founder of the "Rustavi-2", urged the Tbilisi City Court to promptly consider and "satisfy her lawsuit" demanding to return the shares alienated from her husband to her. "I urge the court to consider my lawsuit as soon as possible in order to avoid any attempt of frauds," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has translated Ms Kitsmarishvili's statement made today.
The widow has also pointed out the inadmissibility to sell the shares until the trial is over. In her statement, she called on potential buyers of the shares not to buy them and "not acquire the disputed property."
