Three activists detained at rallies against garbage piles in Yerevan

The "Alternative City Mayoralty" group held a rally with the demand to solve the problem of garbage disposal in Yerevan. Three protesters were detained.

Earlier, on July 13, activists organized a protest action against full trash cans and piles of garbage in the streets of Yerevan.

Residents of Yerevan complain about the poor organization of garbage disposal starting from 2018.

The activists of the "Alternative City Mayoralty" group came to the building of the Yerevan city administration with brooms and garbage bags in their hands.

According to Sona Agekyan, an organizer of the protest action, "the city authorities do nothing." The activist has noted that in the Armenian capital, there are unprecedented piles of garbage, which emits a bad smell, and people "catch various infectious diseases."

The police detained three protestors, including Sona Agekyan. The other activists emphasize the rally will be continued until the problem of garbage disposal is solved.
