Magomedov brothers' defence treats their involvement in murder as fake
Alexei Frenkel, a convict for the murder of Andrei Kozlov, First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Central Bank, plans to testify against Dagestani entrepreneurs, Ziyavudin and Magomed Magomedov, Frenkel's advocate has stated. The Magomedov brothers have nothing to do with Kozlov's murder, their advocate asserts.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ziyavudin Magomedov, the owner of the "Summa" Group, and his brother, a former senator, Magomed Magomedov, have been kept in SIZO (pre-trial prison) since March 31, 2018, on charges of fraud and organizing a criminal grouping to steal budget funds for the amount of 2.5 billion roubles.
Alexei Frenkel, a financier, who was sentenced to 19 years in prison as the customer of the murder of the above Andrei Kozlov, intends to testify within the case of Ziyavudin and Magomed Magomedov "and expose [the case figurants] of involvement in the customized murder." This is stated in the application of Eduard Gladilin, a Frenkel's advocated, the RBC wrote on August 5.
Alexei Frenkel is going to give new testimonies in the hope of early release, said Alexander Gofshtein, an advocate of Ziyavudin Magomedov.
"As a Ziyavudin Magomedov's defender, I can tell you only one thing: he categorically insists on his total non-involvement in this episode," the "Kommersant" quotes Mr Gofshtein as saying.
