Dagestani woman finds her detained son in Chechnya

Abidat Kurbanalieva met her son Kurban, detained in Moscow, in Chechnya. Law enforcers failed to explain the reasons for his detention, she said.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that earlier Chechen law enforcers had suspected Kurban Kurbanaliev of having links with militants, but stopped prosecuting him for the absence of corpus delicti.

On July 12, 2018, six people were detained in the Chechen village of Borozdinovskaya. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) stated that Kurban Kurbanaliev, a resident of Borozdinovskaya, was suspected of trying to recruit a girl into the ranks of Syrian militants.

During the first Kurbanaliev's detention, relatives actively sought his release, said Fatimat, a detainee's sister.

"Last year, when my brother was detained in Chechnya, one of our relatives wrote about it in social networks. Users responded to his message, and on the following day the Chechen TV channel pictured my brother almost as a terrorist. He was accused of intention to go to war in Syria. We didn't believe it and fought for the liberation of the brother," she has explained.

According to the sister, Chechen law enforcers failed to find any proofs of Kurban's guilt.
