Case of Dagestanis killed in Chechnya placed before Russia's SC
The Supreme Court (SC) of Russia can transfer to another region the case of eight Dagestanis, who, according to law enforcers, had prepared a terror act and were killed in a shootout in Chechnya. This case is unique for Northern Caucasus, Pavel Chikov, a rights defender, believes.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that an advocate asked to transfer the consideration of the case to another region. Relatives of those killed, who had claimed their kidnapping, demanded to unite the cases of the shootout in Chechnya and kidnappings in Dagestan into one proceeding.
The SC of Chechnya has decided to transfer the advocates' petition on changing the territorial jurisdiction of the case to the SC of Russia, Andrei Sabinin, an advocate of the "Agora", wrote in his Telegram channel "Sabinin in the Caucasus".
The case of the eight Dagestanis killed in Chechnya is unique for Northern Caucasus, but Russia had similar precedents, said Pavel Chikov, the head of the "Agora" human rights group.
The case of the eight killed residents of Dagestan will be unique if law enforcers are punished, said Alexander Cherkasov, the head of board of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", said, noting that victims have rarely succeed in such cases.
