Gasanguseinov father demands to sanction thousands rally in Makhachkala

Today, Murtazali Gasanguseinov, a father of the shepherds killed in Dagestan, has held a solo picket in Makhachkala. He demands from the authorities to sanction a rally to gather 5000 people.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the father and the mother of the killed Gasanguseinov brothers had repeatedly conducted solo pickets. They stopped their protest actions after the Russian president promised to take control over the case. However, later, Murtazali Gasanguseinov said that the President's promise had not affected the progress of the investigation.

Nabi, 17, and Gasangusein, 19, Gasanguseinov were shot dead on August 23, 2016, during a law enforcers' counterterrorist operation (CTO) conducted in the Shamil District of Dagestan. Law enforcers had stated that the casualties were members of a militant grouping, but their fellow villagers insisted that the Gasanguseinov brothers were just shepherds.

This morning, Murtazali Gasanguseinov has again come to the central square of Makhachkala to hold a solo picket.

Murtazali Gasanguseinov called on the authorities of Makhachkala to sanction a rally with the demand to conduct an effective investigation into the murder of his sons. "We have already lost count of how many times we filed notifications to hold a rally. Every time, the Ministry of Justice (Mo) refers to the Makhachkala Mayoralty and refuses us (in holding a rally). According to the officials, endless repairs are underway in the park of the 50th anniversary of the Victory, and they also refer to a fair which takes place almost the year round. These are all just rude attempts to stop us. I demand from the Makhachkala Mayoralty to inform us when the repairs will be finally finished in the park, the fair will be closed, and we will be able to use our constitutional right and hold the rally," Murtazali Gasanguseinov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to Murtazali Gasanguseinov, he plans to hold a rally to gather 5000 people.
