Georgian airline finds how to get around ban on flights to and from Russia

On July 5, the "Georgian Airways" offered 40,000 customers, who had already bought tickets, to fly from Moscow to Tbilisi and back through Yerevan. The airline suggested covering the costs incurred.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that with the beginning of the unrest in Tbilisi, Russian President Vladimir Putin banned Russian airlines from transporting passengers to Georgia starting from July 8. Georgia estimated the potential damage from the reduction in the number of Russian tourists in the amount of 710 million US dollars. The decision of the Russian authorities to ban flights to and from Georgia is an unreasonable measure that will "adversely affect" citizens of both countries, the European Union declares.

About 40,000 people bought tickets to fly from Tbilisi to Moscow and back for the period after July 8 and before October, reported on the air of the "Pirveli" TV Company Tamar Tandashvili, the deputy commercial director of the "Georgian Airways". The airline decided to use the help of an Armenian partner company and offered passengers the route Tbilisi-Yerevan-Moscow. The flights are to be made twice a day, the TASS reports.

Tamar Tandashvili emphasizes the importance of the Russian market for the airline, the "Georgia Online" reports.
