Court re-declares legality of searches at home of Ingush activist Musa Malsagov

The position of the Magas court on the legality of searches at home of Musa Malsagov came into conflict with the opinion of the Supreme Court (SC) of Ingushetia. This was reported by Marem Tochieva, a wife of Musa Malsagov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 27, in Ingushetia, law enforcers conducted searches at the offices of the Red Cross and the World Ingush Congress. Searches also took place in a number of other NGOs. On July 2, the Supreme Court of Ingushetia cancelled the resolutions of the Magas court, which recognized as legitimate the searches at the Musa Malsagov's house, as well as at the offices of the Red Cross, the Ingush Committee of National Unity, and the "Support of Ingushetia".

Akhmed Barakhoev, Musa Malsagov, and Barakh Chemurziev were arrested in a criminal case on incitement to mass riots and use of violence against a public officer after on March 26, residents of Ingushetia continued their protest action in Magas without a sanction from the authorities. According to the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot", at least 96 activists were prosecuted after the March protests in the republic.

"The Magas court and the Supreme Court of Ingushetia cannot decide which court should investigate the legality of the searches," Marem Tochieva noted.
