Ingush Imams urge Chaika to assess legitimacy of searching Muftiate

The Imams of Ingushetia have asked the Russia's Public Prosecutor General, Yuri Chaika, to check the lawfulness of the searches conducted at the republic's Muftiate and in the house of Mufti Isa Khamkhoev, and of many-hour-long interrogations of religious figures.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 11 it became known that law enforcers were seizing documents from the Muftiate of Ingushetia and conducting searches in the homes of the Isa Khamkhoev, a Mufti of the SAM (Spiritual Administration of Muslims), his brother Musa, as well as in the home of Abdurakhman Martazanov, the Qadi (Sharia Judge) of Ingushetia.

"The searches of homes of these people respected in Ingushetia are unprecedented," the Imams state on the Muftiate's page on the Facebook.

Earlier, Magomed Mutsolgov, the head of the Ingush human rights NGO named "Mashr", linked the searches of Khamkhoev's home with his confrontation with Yunus-Bek Evkurov, the then head of Ingushetia.
