Attack on policemen in Achkhoi-Martan District becomes third in Chechnya since early 2019

The attack on a police checkpoint in the Achkhoi-Martan District of Chechnya, as a result of which at least one policeman and one attacker were killed, has become the third incident in the republic since early 2019.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the North-Caucasian Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported that one policeman was fatally stabbed during the attack on the police checkpoint. According to the MIA, the man, who threw a grenade after attacking the policeman, was killed.

The earlier attack on policemen in Chechnya occurred in Grozny on June 23, not far from the residence of the Chechen leader. According to the MIA, the policemen were attacked by Akhmed Barzaev, a resident of Chechnya, born in 1997.

At night on January 26, according to the MIA's version, a police checkpoint on the outskirts of the Sernovodskoye village was shelled from submachine guns, two law enforcers were injured, and one of the attackers was later found dead in a forest and identified as a 24-year-old resident of Ingushetia. Local residents noted that a solo attack on law enforcer raises a lot of questions.

In 2018, in Chechnya, at least 35 people fell victim to the armed conflict. Of them, at least 26 were killed and other 9 were injured. Besides, in 2018, three terror acts were registered. 21 people fell victim to the terror acts, including suicide bombers. Of the victims, 13 were killed and other 8 were injured.
