Azerbaijani journalist Fuad Abbasov stops hunger strike

On June 19, Fuad Abbasov, an Azerbaijani journalist, who went on a hunger strike in protest against his unjustified deprivation of freedom in the Moscow Region, explained his decision to stop his hunger strike by doctors' recommendations.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Azerbaijani journalist and blogger Fuad Abbasov went on a hunger strike on June 7, after he was placed, instead of deportation, in a temporary detention centre for foreigners located near Moscow.

Fuad Abbasov stopped the hunger strike and wrote about this on June 19 in his Facebook page: "I decided to stop the 12-day hunger strike. The main reason is in the problems with my cardiovascular system. Doctors advised to stop the hunger strike."

So far, nobody has explained him the reasons for his detention, for the illegal, in his opinion, court trial, and for the return from the airport, from which he was to be deported, Mr Abbasov has noted.
