Career growth of Kadyrovs' fellow villager raises problem of Ramzan's "inner retinue"

The appointment of Galas Taimaskhanov, a Kadyrovs' fellow villager, the administration head of the head of Chechnya is associated with the specifics of this post, said Orientalist, Akhmet Yarlykapov. The Taimaskhanov family clan has long been linked with the Kadyrov one, said Ruslan Kutaev, the president of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations.

In 2016, Taimaskhanov headed the Ministry of Industry and Energy of Chechnya. His brother, Maskhud Taimaskhanov was appointed to head the republic's branch of the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ).

"Kadyrov has enough people in his entourage who are ready to take such posts. I think that the post of administration head is rather serious, and he wants to have his close person in it," Mr Yarlykapov has noted, emphasizing that despite such direct appointments, the bureaucratic machinery in Chechnya works "very well, how strange it may seem."

Taimaskhanovs' appointments have primarily to do with the fact that Kadyrov "has a very narrow circle of educated people," said Ruslan Kutaev, adding that the Taimaskhanov family has long been linked with the Kadyrov one.

At the same time, Mr Kutaev has critically assessed the impact of such appointments on the efficiency of the work of the bureaucratic machinery of Chechnya.

Let us remind you that on July 26, 2018, Ibragim Zakriev, a nephew of Ramzan Kadyrov, was appointed as Mayor of Grozny.
