Court grants CER motion for Chechen human rights defender Oyub Titiev

In Chechnya, the court granted the motion for the conditional early relief (CER) of Oyub Titiev, the head of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" office in Grozny. The decision will take effect in ten days.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 18, Oyub Titiev was sentenced to four years of imprisonment on the charge of drug possession.

Today, colleagues of Oyub Titiev have visited him in a penal colony. The human rights defender says he feels fine.

Oyub Titiev insists that he is not guilty. The human rights defender claims that the drugs for the possession of which he was sentenced had been planted to him. The HRC "Memorial" pointed to 10 facts testifying to the falsification of the criminal case against Oyub Titiev.
