Volgograd Region: not enough room in mosques for believers to mark Uraza Bayram

Today, at least 200,000 Muslims, who live and came to the Volgograd Region to visit their relatives or get seasonal work, took part in celebrating the Uraza Bayram holiday, Andrei Kirilenko, the executive officer of the regional Muftiate has stated.

"I think the deficit of space in the regional mosques and prayer houses during this holiday is widespread; but there is a lot of room in mosque yards. Thus, everyone can take part in the celebration of Uraza Bayram," Mr Kirilenko has added.

According to his story, there are at least 5000 Muslims in Volgograd, for whom the regional capital has two mosques and a prayer house. The city of Volzhsky there is one mosque, and other districts of the region have overall 45 mosques and prayer houses, Andrei Kirilenko said, adding that there are at least 200,000 Muslims in the region now, and all of them have taken part today in celebrating the Uraza Bayram holiday.

According to Kirilenko, every year the number of Muslims in the region, who celebrate the Uraza Bayram increases by about a third.
