Nagorno-Karabakh denies its involvement in death of Azerbaijani soldier

The Defence Army has not violated the ceasefire regime and is not related to the death of an Azerbaijani soldier on the contact line of troops, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for Nagorno-Karabakh reports. The OSCE have called on the parties to the Karabakh conflict to show restraint.

Today, Azerbaijani soldier Agil Omarov has been killed in the conflict zone in the direction of the Agdam District. The Ministry of Defence for Azerbaijan stated that the soldier had been killed by a sniper of the Armed Forces of Armenia.

Today, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev has met co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group. After the news about the soldier's death, Azerbaijan blamed Armenia for the possible disruption of the peace talks.

The advanced units of the Nagorno-Karabakh Defence Army strictly observe the ceasefire regime, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed today by Senor Asratyan, the press secretary of the Nagorno-Karabakh MoD. "We call on the Azerbaijani side not to exacerbate the situation artificially by spreading provocative disinformation," Senor Asratyan emphasized.

The Azerbaijani MoD did not report that the deceased man was not an ordinary soldier, but a major, born in 1983, but the local media highlighted that fact, noted Taron Ovannisyan, an expert on Azerbaijan. "Azerbaijan does not explain how the major appeared on the front line under the gun," the expert noted.
