Citywide Iftar in Dagestani Kizilyurt disrupted after special operation

They will not manage to prepare a mass Iftar at the stadium in Kizilyurt, because of the restrictions imposed after the special operation conducted in Sultan-Yangi-Yurt; however, residents of the district gather in hundreds for collective evening Iftars, the organizers claim.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 24, in the village of Sultan-Yangi-Yurt, Kizilyurt District, three persons were killed in a shootout with law enforcers. Because of the special operation, the authorities have imposed restrictions on collective Iftars.

The situation in the Kizilyurt District is calm, but the police "decided to play it safe and asked Imams to temporarily refrain from holding collective Iftars," the local administration has explained.

The ban is expected to be lifted in the coming days.

The ban on holding collective Iftars is a recommendation, Abu-Bakr, one of the organizers of Ramadan de-fasting intents, believes.

The special operation caused no tension in Sultan-Yangi-Yurt, Gadji, a local resident, has noted.
