Eleven convicts pardoned in Georgia

On the occasion of the Independence Day, the Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili has pardoned eight prisoners and three conditionally convicted persons.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 25, President Zurabishvili had pardoned 42 convicts on the occasion of the Easter holiday. Then, those pardoned by her decree included 19 prisoners and 23 conditionally convicted persons. There were four women among those pardoned.

In the context of the Independence Day celebrated on May 26, Ms Zurabishvili has pardoned eight prisoners and three conditional convicts, says the May 24 message posted on the President's official website.

All the pardoned prisoners must leave jails immediately on the day the decree was signed. The remaining three conditional convicts, one woman among them, are completely exempted from their punishments, the Georgian Channel One reported on May 24 on its website.

This is the third pardoning decree signed by Salome Zurabishvili after taking office.
