Miners block roads in Western Georgia

Employees of the mining and processing combine in the Georgian city of Chiatura, who are demanding higher wages, have partially blocked the roads to the enterprise.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 16, about 150 miners in Chiatura began a strike, demanding to raise their wages and improve working conditions. On the following day, 15 of them, dissatisfied with the results of negotiations with the company leadership, went on a hunger strike right outside the building of the city Mayoralty.

In the evening on May 17, the strikers blocked the roads use by the trucks laden with manganese. They spent the night in tents. Miners do not obstruct the traffic of the vehicles not related to the enterprise.

The 15 miners continue their hunger strike. The work of several mines has been completely suspended in Chiatura, says the website of the Public Television of Georgia.
