Armenian residents commemorate genocide victims with torchlight marches

Armenia has held torchlight marches in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire. In the capital of the country, the event was held under the motto "Full and fair compensation".

Every year, on April 24, residents of Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh and members of Armenian Diasporas all over the world mark the Remembrance Day of the Victims of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire in 1915-1923.

In Yerevan, the torchlight march from Freedom Square to the "Tsitsernakaberd" Memorial Complex to Genocide Victims took place on April 23, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Prior to the march, participants traditionally burned down the flag of Turkey and with lit torches marched to the memorial.

They carried in their hands a banner with the motto of the march, state flags of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh and of those countries, which have recognized the Armenian Genocide.

The marchers demanded to recognize the Armenian Genocide to pay the indemnity.

"Our march will continue until ... Turkey and its current government continues denying the genocide," the "Armenpress" quotes Arthur Kazaryan, a member of the Supreme Council of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun", as saying.
