Sisters from Saudi Arabia ask for help in Georgia

Two sisters from Saudi Arabia, who are hiding in Georgia from their relatives' persecutions, have asked the UN for protection, fearing a return to their homeland.

Makha Al-Subaye, 28, and Vafa Al-Subaye, 25, wrote in the Twitter that they urgently need help. They ended up in Tbilisi after their escape from Saudi Arabia, which they left because of the pressure in the family, while the state, as they said, failed to defend them. The girls assert that they can be killed if they return to their homeland, the "News-Georgia" reports.

According to the girls, their father and brother came to Tbilisi and are searching for them. The government of Saudi Arabia has suspended their passports, which is why they have difficulties, the "Newstbilisi.info" reports.

The sisters asked the French Embassy in Tbilisi for asylum, but received a refusal. Now, they hope to get asylum in Canada, the "Echo of the Caucasus" reports.
