Protesters block Caucasus highway in Ingushetia

In Magas, participants of a rally gathered at the entrance to Nazran and blocked the federal highway. Activists called on the protesters to free the road.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that residents of Ingushetia extended the protest action in a square in Magas without a sanction from the authorities. This morning, the above has led to clashes with law enforcers. After the authorities had promised to sanction a new rally in five days, the activists persuaded their supporters to stop the protest action.

On March 26, a rally against the law on referendum in Ingushetia turned into a rally demanding the resignation of Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov.

The rally participants, who left the square in Magas, gathered at the intersection of the "Caucasus" federal highway and the "Ekazhevo-Nazran" highway, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Ismail Mankiev, a resident of the Dolakovo village.

According to Magomed Mutsolgov, the head of the human rights organization "Mashr", "thousands of people" gathered on the federal highway in the area of the Ekazhevo circle, and the highway was thus blocked.

About 300 protesters, mostly elderly people, stayed in Magas, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Ruslan Mutsolgov, the head of the "Yabloko" Party regional branch.
