Georgian priest Giorgi Mamaladze transferred to prison hospital

The Archpriest Giorgi Mamaladze, convicted for an attempt to poison the secretary of the Patriarch of Georgia, has been brought, at the request of the penitentiary administration, from a civilian clinic to a prison hospital.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 15, Mamaladze felt bad and was taken from prison to a clinic. Two days later, his advocate, Miya Zoidze, said that Giorgi's state of health had deteriorated, so he should not be returned to the penitentiary institution. However, Marina Gelantiya, the deputy director general of the clinic, said that "there was a positive dynamic" in his condition.

On September 5, 2017, the court sentenced Giorgi Mamaladze to nine years in prison, finding him guilty of plotting the murder of the secretary of the Georgian Patriarch and illegal arms possession. On August 9, 2018, Mamaladze asked the president for pardon, but was not put on the pardon list. A Mamaladze's complaint was sent to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) in Strasbourg.

Mamaladze has been transferred to the prison hospital after a concilium of doctors, who found his health condition stable, Marina Gelantiya said on the "Imedi" TV.
