Social network users support Dagestani fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov after criticism of his trip to Africa

Khabib Nurmagomedov, a Dagestani fighter, has promised to fulfil wishes of ten children, having held the New Year charity action "Letter to Khabib" on the Instagram. The action took place after social network users' criticism of Nurmagomedov's trip to Africa, where he promised to help the local residents.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 7, 2018, at the UFC-229 tournament, Nurmagomedov defeated the Irishman Conor McGregor and retained the world champion's belt in the lightweight.

The champion's title brought great popularity to Nurmagomedov; and he began promoting conservative views on the Instagram. He condemned the Dagestani youth dancing at concerts of pop artists and argued with the rapper Timati about the concerts in Dagestan of the singer Egor Kreed, whose producer is Timati.

Social network users thanked the athlete for his charity, but recalled that his countrymen also needed help. Some of them indicated that charity actions raise Nurmagomedov's rating.

In November 2018, the athlete visited the regions of Africa, where people have problems with drinking water. The video report about the trip caused users' criticism.

"First, you should help where you live. A lot of families in Dagestan just survive," said the user naika496.

Other participants in the discussion noted that Nurmagomedov is doing the right thing helping people, wherever they live.

Nurmagomedov himself said that he has the right to spend his money as he sees it necessary.
