Arbitrary arrests before elections

The headquarters of Rasul Gulieyev, a candidate in the parliamentary elections and chairman of the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan, at 4a Nobel Avenue, Baku, has been attacked by officers of Azerbaijan's Internal Affairs Ministry. The headquarters has been smashed up and documents concerning Rasul Gulieyev's publicity campaign have been seized. Besides, his trusted person, Faramaz Javadov, has been detained, according to Leyla Yunus, Director of the Institute of Peace and Democracy.
