Head of Dagestan announces talks with Kadyrov on border issues

During the 6th Mass Media Forum of Northern Caucasus in Grozny, Vladimir Vasiliev, the head of Dgestan, announced his plans to discuss the Dagestani borders with the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov.

"We'll consider [the issues of Dagestani-Chechen administrative borders] very carefully, if possible, by communicating with each resident," the "Chernovik" quotes Mr Vasiliev as saying on December 6.

On December 6, another edition, the "Novoye Delo", noted that Vasiliev made a statement related to Dagestani borders for the first time, adding that earlier in Dagestan "only the topic of re-establishment of the Aukh District was openly discussed."

After the agreement on fixing the Chechen-Ingush border, claims of Chechen leadership on territories of other neighbouring regions are not excluded in the future, political analysts Dmitry Oreshkin and Alexei Gunya had stated earlier.

Let us remind you that on September 7, Ramzan Kadyrov signed a decree on setting up a commission to clarify the borders of Chechnya; and on November 10, it became known that in the map of Chechnya, Lake Kezenoy-Am, located on the Chechen-Dagestani border, as well as a part of the territory near the Dagestani village of Ansalt, was completely included into Chechnya.
