An "Agora" lawyer reports threats before trial on Ingush-Chechen border

Lawyer Ramil Akhmetgaliev, who represents the interests of the World Congress of the Ingush People, has got anonymous threats in connection with the session of the Constitutional Court of Russia on the agreement with Chechnya.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 30, the Constitutional Court of Ingushetia recognized the republican law on the border with Chechnya as contradicting the Constitution. On November 27, the Constitutional Court of Russia should decide on the issue.

An unidentified person contacted Ramil Akhmetgaliev through a messenger and recommended him not to go to Saint Petersburg, where the session of the Constitutional Court of Russia would be held. The stranger threatened that otherwise the lawyer would "get sick, and the body temperature would rise." Meanwhile, the stranger mentioned the lawyer's personal information about his family members and his place of residence, reports the website of the "Agora" International Human Rights Group.

Ramil Akhmetgaliev associates the threats with his professional activities.

Ramil Akhmetgaliev has been working as a lawyer since 2004, and he is a legal analyst at the "Agora" International Human Rights Group. He has succeeded in seeking the decisions of the Presidium of the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation on the taxation of NGOs.
