Azerbaijani banker's wife released on bail in London

A British court has allowed Zamira Gadjieva, the wife of the former head of the International Bank of Azerbaijan, accused of money embezzlement, to stay at large on bail of half a million pounds sterling.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 6, the Magistrates Court in London ruled to arrest Zamira Gadjieva.

The attention of British investigators was attracted by expenses of the wife of Djakhangir Gadjiev, the former Board Chairman of the International Bank of Azerbaijan, at a department store and on purchasing expensive real estates. Now, the assets of Zamira Gadjieva are frozen.

The High Court of London has released Zamira Gadjieva on bail of 500,000 pounds sterling. She will have to report to the police every day and not leave her home after nine o'clock in the evening, approach the international railway stations and airports, and travel outside of London, the BBC has reported.

Gadjieva insists that she has received all the money by legal means, and appealed to the court with a request to stop the investigation.
