Residents of Dagestan associate celebration of Eid al-Fitr with people's income

In Dagestan, hundreds of thousands of believers made festive prayers, reported the Muftiate. On the eve of the holiday, Makhachkala residents complained about the increase in food prices.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Dagestan, on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, the days of June 14 and 15 were declared days off at the Mufti's request to observe religious traditions.

After a common prayer at the mosque, Muslims exchange greetings, go to visit or invite guests to their place. On that day, there is a tradition to put the most exquisite dishes on the table and to visit parents and elders.

Residents of Makhachkala reported that they would celebrate Eid al-Fitr according to their financial capabilities and also complained about the rise in prices before the holiday.

Zaripat Makhmudova says her family does not have financial opportunities to widely celebrate the holiday.

Meanwhile, earlier, the Muftiate of Dagestan had called on traders not to raise food prices on the eve of Eid al-Fitr.

Mass iftars fully comply with Islamic traditions, says historian Igor Alekseev, the director of the Mardjani Foundation.

"The very practice of mass treats makes a very positive impression of universal mercy and hospitality," Igor Alekseev noted.

"The joint iftar is a very important and joyful element of the Muslim fasting," said historian Dmitry Mikulsky.

According to him, the revival of such a tradition in Russia is a good thing. "Anyone in need can come to eat. In addition, people communicate with each other," Dmitry Mikulsky noted.
