Two Georgian residents set free after detention at South-Ossetian border

Law enforcers of South Ossetia have released two residents of the Georgian village of Okami, who were detained on October 20 on suspicion of violating the border.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 20, law enforcers of South Ossetia detained four residents of Georgia on the border. Two of them – the priests – were released without imposing fines for humanitarian reasons, the South-Ossetian State Security Committee (SSC) reported on October 22.

Okami villagers Soso Shukakidze and Giorgi Shamanauri, who were detained on October 20, are back at large, the "InterPressNews" has reported with reference to the State Security Service (SSS) of Georgia.

According to local residents, the above villagers were detained when they gathered firewood in the forest, the "InterPressNews" has added.

As of 8:57 p.m. Moscow time on October 24, the Facebook page of the South-Ossetian SSC had no reports on the release of Shukakidze and Shamanauri.
