Dead body found in Chechnya

The body of a police officer, Mamed Sagaipov, a former inspector in Starye Atagi, Grozny village district, who was abducted by unknown persons from his own house in early 2004 was found near Novye Atagi, Shali district, on 25 September. Mamed had a wife and two underage children.

The killed man's relatives say that officers of Chechnya's Internal Affairs Ministry told them that Mamed had been abducted by rebels and killed on the second day after his abduction. The police officers obtained that information from a detained rebel who had told them about Mr Sagaipov's murder, the Russian-Chechen Friendship Society reports.
