Ingush residents sue Yunus-Bek Evkurov

A group of residents of Ingushetia has lodged their administrative claims to the court, challenging the actions of Yunus-Bek Evkurov at conclusion of the border agreement with Chechnya and the voting outcomes in the parliament on October 4.

On September 26, Ramzan Kadyrov and Yunus-Bek Evkurov signed the agreement on securing the border between Chechnya and Ingushetia. Residents of Ingushetia took to mass actions in protest against the transfer of lands.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 4, 17 out of 25 MPs voted to ratify the agreement on fixing the border with Chechnya, the Ingush authorities has stated. However, the MPs told the rally themselves that 15 out of 24 parliamentarians voted against the ratification.

Two administrative claims on behalf of two residents of Ingushetia were accepted by the Nazran District Court today; it follows from the copies of documents, received by the "Caucasian Knot".

In their first statement of claim, the claimants indicate that the October 4 voting at the Ingush Parliament was falsified; and the voting procedure itself was held with violations. They demand to nullify the MPs' voting on October 4.

The second claim challenges the actions of an official, the head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Evkurov, when signing the agreement on the Ingush-Chechen border on September 26. The head of Ingushetia is the respondent to the claim.

According to the claimants, Evkurov's actions have created a threat of a change of the territory of Ingushetia and reduction thereof. This has violated the right of residents of Ingushetia to participate in managing state affairs through participation in a referendum.

On October 10, a similar administrative lawsuit against Evkurov was submitted by a resident of Magas to the Magas District Court.
