In Ingushetia, calls for protest action disseminated amid threats from law enforcers

In Ingushetia, law enforcers warned activists against launching new protests in connection with the change in the Chechen-Ingush border. However, social networks disseminated a call to gather on the day of the Ingush parliament session.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 1, residents of Ingushetia held mass motor rallies in protest against the change in the Chechen-Ingush border. On October 2, law enforcers searched houses of Ruslan Mutsolgov, the leader of the "Yabloko" regional branch, and a number of activists. On October 3, Ingush MPs called on residents to abandon discussions about the border with Chechnya.

On October 3, the residents of Ingushetia who took part in the protest actions in Sunzha and Magas, got letters with warning from the Prosecutor's Office.

Dozens of Ingush residents received letters with the heading "Warning about the inadmissibility of violating the law", reported an activist who took part in a spontaneous gathering on September 25.

According to the text, on October 6, the law enforcement bodies expect unsanctioned protest actions of Ingush residents with the aim of "expressing disagreement with the transfer of lands to Chechnya."

The activists note that the authorities of Ingushetia insist on a secret ballot in parliament, since they are not sure that some MPs will support the border agreement.

Calls for MPs not to vote for the change of borders were disseminated along with the announcement of a gathering through Facebook. The Ingush activists suggest that law enforcers may block the entrances to the capital of the republic and turn off the mobile Internet.
