Opposition stripped of air

Contrary to the Electoral Code of Azerbaijan, the 1st state television channel has declined to provide candidates for parliament members with live broadcasts. In this connection, the Azadlyg bloc has called on international structures for taking pertinent measures in the light of the decision of the government of Azerbaijan to prohibit live broadcasts for opposition candidates. The government no longer tries to conceal its plans to disrupt the parliamentary election, the authors of the appeal believe.

It should be noted that candidates for parliament members must be provided four minutes of live broadcasting free of charge regardless of what political party or movement they belong to in accordance with Azerbaijan's electoral law.
