Law enforcers search "Yerevan.today" editorial office

A search of the editorial office of the website "Yerevan.today" was conducted as part of the wiretapping case of Arthur Vanetsyan, Director of the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia, and Sasun Khachatryan, the head of the Special Investigating Service (SIS). The work of the website is paralyzed, Sevak Akopyan, the editor, has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 11, the YouTube posted a record of a telephone conversation of Arthur Vanetsyan with Sasun Khachatryan about the arrest of Robert Kocharyan and Yuri Khachaturov in connection with the case of demonstrators' dispersal. The General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Armenia opened a criminal case on the articles dealing with violations of secrecy of telephone conversations, and illegal acquisition of computer data.

According to an employee of the press service of the Investigating Committee, the search at the office of "Yerevan.today" is not related to the journalistic activities of the website, but is aimed at clarifying the circumstances of the wiretapping case.

He has also noted that it was the website "Yerevan.today" to first post the record of the telephone conversations of the heads of the NSS and the SIS, but very soon the record was deleted.

Sevak Akopyan, the editor of the "Yerevan.today" believes that law enforcers seized hard drives and a computer without any grounds.

Let us note here that on September 12, the "Yerevan.today" posted, in its Facebook page, a refutation of the fact that it was the first to post the record of the above telephone conversation of two law enforcement bosses. According to the website managers, there was some failure in the Google.
