UNESCO Director calls on to investigate murders of Orkhan Djemal and his colleagues

National authorities should make every effort to bring to justice attackers on journalists Orkhan Djemal, Alexander Rastorguev, and Kirill Radchenko in Central Africa, announces today UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 31, it became known that journalist Orkhan Djemal, Rostov film director Alexander Rastorguev, and cameraman Kirill Radchenko were killed while working on a documentary film in the Central African Republic (CAR). Today, the bodies of the killed journalists have been delivered to Paris, and it is expected that another plane will deliver them from Paris to Moscow tonight.

Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), has called on to investigate the murder of Russian journalists in the CAR, the TASS reports today.

"I condemn this horrific attack that claimed the lives of journalists Orkhan Djemal, Alexander Rastorguev, and Kirill Radchenko. I call upon the national authorities to spare no effort in investigating the circumstances of this shocking attack and to bring its perpetrators to trial," said the UNESCO Director-General as quoted by the TASS.
