Officials deny hunger strike of Zaur Dadaev in Irkutsk penal colony
Zaur Dadaev, sentenced in the case on the Boris Nemtsov's murder, whose hunger strike was announced by the defence, takes food, and there are numerous witnesses for that, reported the spokesperson for the Chief Department for the Irkutsk Region of the Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN). The Prosecutor's Office also denied the information about the hunger strike of Zaur Dadaev.
On July 13, 2017, the Moscow District Military Court sentenced five Chechen natives accused of killing of Boris Nemtsov. Zaur Dadaev, who was considered by investigators to be the gunman, was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 31, advocate Roza Magomedova reported about the Zaur Dadaev' hunger strike in a penal colony. According to the advocate, the prisoner went on hunger strike to protest against his unjustified placement in a punishment cell.
"Zaur Dadaev did not declare any hunger strike either verbally or in writing. He takes food in accordance with the daily routine in the penal colony, and that is witnessed by numerous witnesses, including prisoners and staff members of the penitentiary institution," reported a press officer of the FSIN's Chief Department for the Irkutsk Region as quoted today by the "Interfax".
According to Alexander Semyonov, Senior Assistant to the Prosecutor of the Irkutsk Region, the prosecutors' check also did not confirm the information about the hunger strike of Zaur Dadaev in the penal colony, the TASS reports today.
"Zaur Dadaev does not take part in any hunger strike. Moreover, he did not file any complaints or statements. The Prosecutor checked the information personally," Alexander Semyonov reported.
