In Dagestan, a check list with rules of conduct provokes discussions in social networks

Guests of Dagestan should be informed about the customs in the republic, believe some users of social networks who read a check list prepared by the "Rosseti" for its employees. Other Internet users criticized the idea of the company.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 20, exercises of federal power engineers were launched in Dagestan. Power engineers sent to the republic were given check lists with recommendations on the rules of conduct.

Power engineers were advised not to "move around in the dark" in Dagestan, since some local residents, "especially young people, are pretty impulsive," the "Dozhd" (Rain) TV Channel reported. Furthermore, men are advised not to wear shorts, earrings, and long hair, while women are recommended not to wear trousers and "provocatively short skirts." The "Rosseti" Company advised its employees not to communicate with unknown women, since "such acquaintances could provoke unpredictable consequences," and warned of the local residents' intolerance to use of bad words and alcoholic drinks.

Murad Akaev, a resident of the Karabudakhkent District, believes there is nothing special in such check lists, since visitors from other regions are not familiar with the specific features of life in Dagestan.

The information about the check list has provoked a lively response in social networks.

"It's a right reminder. You need to comply with local concepts," Nikolai Stechkin wrote on Facebook.

Caucasian scientist Vladimir Sevrinovsky shares the opinion that such check lists are necessary.

"On the one hand, the recommendations are correct. But on the other hand, they sound as if white people are sent to the jungle, where savages live," noted Yuliana Magomedova in the "Dagestan Online" group in Facebook.

"It feels like they are arriving in an open-air cage with animals," said Ramazan Aduev.
