Military men detain Chechen woman

Federal military men detained Toita Jabrailov, b. 1969, resident in Elistanzhi, Vedeno district, at the entrance to Serzhen-Yurt, Shali district, at about 7.30 am on 16 September.

The detained woman was going from Elistanzhi to Grozny on a regular bus. The bus in which Toita was going was stopped by officers of a mobile checkpoint for a document check. Having checked the ID of all passengers in the bus, the Russian military men took Ms Jabrailov out and brought her away without indicating the destination, according to eyewitnesses. Some passengers had tried to prevent the detention of the woman, but the military men beat them for that, the Russian-Chechen Friendship Society reports.

The detained woman's relatives decline comment on what happened. The likely reason to detain Toita Jabrailov is that one of her relatives is an active member of Chechen separatist units, according to Kharachoi residents.
