On July 21, the "Caucasian Knot" announced the laureates of the annual award set up in memory of the Dagestani journalist Akhmednabi Akhmednabiyev.

The laureates of the 2017 Akhmednabiyev Award are 15 journalists, who write about the Caucasus, who have split the first three places among them.

The first place was awarded to Ekaterina Sokiryanskaya for her article "Preaching of Knife and Axe", published in the "Novaya Gazeta" newspaper and dealing with the recruitment of militants for the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court.
