Dagestan: Ramazan Aliev's arrest extended

Ramazan Aliev, the former deputy Prime Minister of Dagestan, has been charged with abuse of authority, and his arrest has been extended up to two months, reports a source from the Dagestani law enforcement bodies.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 6, Ramazan Aliev, the former deputy Prime Minister of Dagestan, was taken into custody pending the charge. On July 4, the acting leader of Dagestan signed a decree to dismiss Ramazan Aliev, and a house of the official was searched. On July 10, with reference to its sources, the "Rosbalt" announced the Ramazan Aliev's willingness to reimburse the damage caused to the budget, estimated at 14.1 million roubles.

The charge has been filed against Ramazan Aliev, reports today a source from the Dagestani law enforcement bodies.

"Ramazan Aliev has been charged under Article 'Abuse of official authority'," reported the law enforcer as quoted by the TASS.

According to another source from the law enforcement bodies, after the charge had been filed against the former official, the pre-trial restriction measure in the form of arrest pronounced by the court against Ramazan Aliev, "was automatically extended up to two months," the newspaper "Youth of Dagestan" reports.
