Makhachkala residents complain about water supply problems
Water is supplied to many Makhachkala districts with interruptions, and its low quality forces citizens to buy bottled water for drinking and cooking, Makhachkala residents informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
One has to get up at 4 a.m. to store water for a day, said Zaira Magomedova, a resident of the suburban settlement of Shamkhal-Termen.
"We have water in the tap from 5 till 7 a.m., and not always. In the evening, they sometimes supply untreated water from the canal, but it is unfit for drinking," the woman said.
Murad Magomedov, a resident of the Makhachkala settlement called Separatorny, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent about long outages of water supply. "They cut water supply all the time and without warning; recently, there was no water for almost 24 hours. The one that they supply is of poor quality, but we don't think about it: we have small children, in this heat we need water all the time," the man said.
According to his story, people are forced to buy bottled water for cooking, because they are afraid to get poisoned by poor quality water.
Patimat Alieva, a resident of Engels Street, said that in her house problems with water supply had been present for two days already.
"It used to be OK earlier, but now there's absolutely no water from morning till night. We have to buy bottled water for cooking, and make reserves," the Makhachkala woman told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
