Sources explain law enforcers' interest to Ramazan Aliev

Investigators verify the involvement of Ramazan Aliev, the former chair of the Dagestani government, in several episodes related to possible abuse of authority. However, the immediate cause for the investigation was an order of the official to service his private car at the government garage, reported sources from the power agencies and the law enforcement bodies.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 4, Vladimir Vasiliev, the acting leader of Dagestan, signed a decree to dismiss Ramazan Aliev. The house of the official was repeatedly searched. Ramazan Aliev was interrogated and then detained. According to a source close to the law enforcement bodies, the official was suspected of abusing official authority and causing losses amounting to millions of roubles.

The investigators have got the information about several episodes of abuse of power committed by Ramazan Aliev, including the one connected with the official's order to service his private SUV at the government garage, the "Kommersant" reports today, on July 5, with reference to a source from the law enforcement bodies.

When working as the chief for the administration of the leader and the government of Dagestan, Ramazan Aliev took from an individual an armoured SUV used for Ramazan Abdulatipov and served at the government garage. The amount of damage is estimated at about 18 million roubles, the "Chernovik" (Draft) reports with reference to sources close to the government of Dagestan.
