Residents of Novokorsunskoye achieve compensation increase
After the residents of the village of Novokorsunskoye blocked the Timashevsk-Korenovsk highway, the territorial authorities have increased the amount of compensations due to them for the houses damaged by hail.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 30, the Krasnodar Territory was hit by a strong hail, which damaged roofs of private houses in a number of districts of the Territory.
Novokorsunskoye villagers, whose houses are practically roofless, worry about the forecast for a new cyclone that is approaching the Krasnodar Territory. This information forced people to go this morning out to the Timashevsk-Korenovsk highway and block the motor traffic, demanding compensations, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has reported.
The protesters believe that "the process [of paying compensations] is deliberately protracted; and payments are not made." According to their data, about 2000 houses were damaged in the village.
According Tamara Negoda, a villager, who spoke to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, after the hail, all the villagers' houses were damaged. "The hail was the [size] of an egg; it broke the roofs; we hoped that they will help us to repair them on the following day. Now, we look at the forecast – again heavy rains are approaching us; then, we'll get drowned in our houses," the woman said. According to Negoda, about 200 people came to block the highway.
"People ask to increase compensations, so that they could at least restore the roofs. Now, they are given 50,000 roubles per household, but people need more – someone needs 200,000; and someone – 300,000," said a source from the local administration.
Veniamin Kondratiev, the Governor of the Territory, came to meet the villagers who blocked the highway and promised to compensate the losses to all the victims.
Later, the governor held a sitting at the Timashevsk District Administration, where it was decided to increase the amount of compensations: each damaged household will receive 120,000 roubles, the "Zivaya Kuban" (Live Kuban) has reported.
