Suleiman Kerimov returns to Moscow from France

Suleiman Kerimov, a Senator from Dagestan, got back his passport in France, where he was accused of violating the procedures while purchasing real estate objects. At present, he can freely move around Europe, the Russian diplomatic mission in France reports today.

On November 20, 2017, Suleiman Kerimov was detained in France and charged with laundering money obtained as a result of tax evasion.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 28, sources reported that Suleiman Kerimov had been freed from all charges in France. Later, the Prosecutor's Office explained that the criminal case against Suleiman Kerimov was not closed, but the defendant got the status of an assisted witness.

On June 28, at the court hearing, Suleiman Kerimov was freed from all charges, reports today the office of the Russian diplomatic mission in Villefranche-sur-Mer, a division of the Russian Consulate General in Marseille.

"On Friday [June 29], a passport was returned to Mr Kerimov, and he returned to Russia," reported officials from the office of the Russian diplomatic mission in Villefranche-sur-Mer, which provided the consular support to the senator from the moment when he had been detained.

At present, Suleiman Kerimov, who stayed in France under a strict recognizance not to leave, can again freely move around Europe.

Suleiman Kerimov is now in Moscow, the "Interfax" reports with reference to informed sources.
