Ingush rights defender complains to prosecutor's office about detention of Caucasians in Anapa

Moussa Bekmurziev, a member of the Human Rights Council under the head of Ingushetia, has sent a complaint to the Prosecutor's Office of the Krasnodar Territory against the actions of Anapa policemen, who massively detained residents of the Caucasus.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 22, about 30 Caucasians were detained in Anapa, a city in the Krasnodar Territory, on the Black Sea shore. Bekmurziev associates the detentions with the FIFA World Cup-2018. According to his story, three buses with Chechens, Ingushes, Circassians and Dagestanis were brought to the police station.

The rights defender believes that the police acted illegally. In their turn, policemen assert that the detentions had to do with a commission of a crime by some Caucasian.

"Some people write to me on why I decided to voice out the detentions, when we have the World Cup, and such news may spoil the image of the country, but I can not keep silent, because it's lawlessness," Bekmurziev has stated.

Mass detentions in Anapa caused outrage in social networks. Users believe that detentions of natives of Northern Caucasus jeopardize their constitutional rights.
