Case of mass riots in Yerevan terminated

Investigators have stopped the case against the defendants accused of organizing mass unrests in July 2016, including against David Sanasaryan, the head of the State Control Service of Armenia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 29, 2016, Yerevan hosted a march in support of the "Sasna Tsrer" detachment, which captured and was holding the building of a police regiment in Yerevan from July 17 to July 31, 2016. Law enforcers then dispersed the marchers. On July 30, 55 marchers and four policemen were hospitalized; some journalists also suffered.

The criminal case on mass riots in the Sari Tag District has been terminated by the investigator's decision, said the spokesman of the Special Investigating Service of Armenia.

Let us remind you that David Sanasaryan took an active part in the protest actions that led to the change of power in Armenia. On May 8, Nikol Pashinyan, the oppositional leader, became the country's Premier.
